A Tennessee man is suing Popeyes for running out of their popular chicken sandwich. The meal was only available in select locations

But alas, Popeyes sold out of its chicken sandwiches in just two weeks.

BYOB, in this case, stands for "bring your own bun".

Craving the new Popeyes chicken sandwich? The restaurant is telling people that it still has the best fried chicken in the game, so they can order a three-piece tender entree make their own sandwiches - if they bring buns with them.

The tweet includes an entire video promo of people ordering three tenders and putting them between their own buns they bring to the locations. "We, along with our suppliers, are working tirelessly to bring the new sandwich back to guests as soon as possible".

So head on out to a supermarket, then go get your chicken!

In a surprise few could have foreseen, it appears customers don't like being trolled by fast-food chains for no reason - especially after praising a brand for its new menu item.

However, the Popeyes 'fry-'hards on Twitter weren't having it, posting cries of "delete this" and "damn, y'all are broke". The breaded chicken sandwich comes topped with mayo and pickles and rivals that of the infamous Chick-fil-A chicken, sandwich according to some customers.

Popeyes announced in August that it would begin selling chicken sandwiches.

Popeyes knows you're still sad about its chicken sandwich shortage.

Cil compared the phenomenon to "when the iPhone was launched about 10 to 12 years ago: "I've talked to many of our franchise partners across the country that have been in the business 40 to 50 years in some cases".
