Graham says he'll invite Giuliani to testify about Ukraine Sen. Lindsey Graham

Senate Republicans are hosting their own challenge to the House Democrats' impeachment inquiry by inviting President Trump's personal attorney Rudolph W. Giuliani to come testify on Ukraine, Sen.

"Graham wants me to lay out in one place, in one time the Ukrainian collusion and the Biden corruption.I appreciate Lindsey offering the opportunity to lay the whole case out", Giuliani said as quoted by the WP.

Trump has echoed Giuliani's allegations about Biden and raised the issue in a July 25 phone call with Ukraine's new president Volodymyr Zelensky - a discussion that occurred amid Giuliani's pressure campaign and at a time the White House had quietly placed a hold on military assistance to Ukraine, which was eventually released after news of the hold became public.

Graham said that his decision came after hearing from Giuliani on "numerous occasions disturbing allegations. about corruption in Ukraine and the many improprieties surrounding the firing of former Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin".

The impeachment proceedings began after revelations from a whistleblower complaint last month revealed that Trump pressured his foreign counterpart in Ukraine to investigate a potential political opponent-former Vice President Joe Biden and his son-for their involvement in a Ukrainian gas company.

Republicans have sought to pivot the scandal's focus away from Trump's efforts to get other nations' help in the presidential election and are instead focusing on the alleged wrongdoing by Biden and his son of using their influence for personal gain.

"I will offer to Mr. Giuliani the opportunity to come before the Senate Judiciary Committee to inform the committee of his concerns", Graham said in a string of tweets.

"The position I'm stating is now the position of the administration", Giuliani added.

Graham has gone from being a vociferous critic of Trump's to one of his most vicious attack dogs in the Senate.

House Democrats have not sought a hearing with Giuliani in their impeachment inquiry, they say, to avoid a public spectacle, and instead subpoenaed him to provide documents and records to Congress by October 15.

With the USA ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland sidelined in his desire to appear and answer questions, cable TV regular Giuliani will get the chance to air his claims of Ukrainian corruption that he wants aired.

US officials, the whistleblower wrote, were "deeply concerned" by Giuliani's communications with Ukraine.

Giuliani has shown that live testimony isn't the best medium for him to appear, given several startling interviews over the past few weeks.
