Many on social media are suspicious of the details surrounding Brown's death and the Mitchell's arrests, as Brown was a lead witness in a police trial and would have been thoroughly investigated about his alleged drug dealing. He said the suspects - Jacquerious Mitchell, 20, Michael Mitchell, 32, and Thaddeous Green, 22 - traveled from Alexandria, La., on Friday to buy drugs from Brown.

Police said Michael Mitchell is the uncle of Jacquerious Mitchell and that Jacquerious is in a Dallas hospital in "critical condition". Michael Mitchell and Green are still wanted.

Dallas police officials announced on October 8 the identity of three men they said participated in the killing of Joshua Brown, a witness in the Amber Guyger murder trial.

Brown, 28 - who lived across the hall from Jean at the time of the shooting - previously fled to California after repeatedly expressing concerns that testifying in the Guyger trial would put his life at risk, according to Lee Merritt, who represents the Jean family.

As Brown and Green talked, Moore said, the two got into an argument.

Joshua Brown was a neighbor of shooting victim Botham Jean at the South Side Flats apartments.

One suspect tied to the shooting, Jacquerious Mitchell, is in custody at Parkland Hospital.

The other two suspects also face capital murder charges, Moore said.

Authorities confiscated 12 pounds (5.4 kilograms) of marijuana, 149 grams of THC cartridges and more than $4,000 in cash during a search of Brown's home. Merritt has called for an independent investigation into the killing. Mitchell collapsed back into the auto, then Mitchell told police he heard two other gunshots.

"There has been speculation and rumors that have been shared by community leaders claiming that Mr".

Police said Tuesday that Brown was killed at a Dallas apartment complex during a drug sale gone awry and that it had nothing to do with his involvement in the Guyger case. "I assure you that is simply not true", Moore said at a news conference on Tuesday.

Twenty-eight-year-old Joshua Brown was a former athlete and entrepreneur, United States media reported. The two got into a physical altercation, police said. "There is a lack of credibility that the Dallas Police Department now has and, frankly, it's not just among brown and black communities".

Despite the timing of Brown's shooting, authorities say it was unrelated to Guyger's trial. Guyger said she killed the 26-year-old accountant after she mistakenly walked into his apartment, one floor above her unit, and mistook him for a burglar. Police did not say whether Jacquerious and Michael Mitchell are related. But he said it was hard to make out the words between Guyger and Jean. The bullet went up and damaged vital organs, Moore said. Guyer was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison last week.
