Belichick mum on Pats’ decision to release WR Josh Gordon

Josh Gordon reportedly was claimed off waivers by the Seahawks on Friday, and the wide receiver seems to be excited about his new start.

Josh Gordon won't make his Seahawks debut until after their game against Tampa Bay. Over the nine games he played at least 50% of the snaps with New England, he averaged 12.4 points per game. Gordon has caught 240 passes for 4,113 yards and 20 touchdowns in 58 career games with the Cleveland Browns and Patriots.

Pressed for his thoughts on Gordon's overall time in New England, Belichick said the team had moved forward.

Gordon had been positioned on injured reserve on October 23 with a "minor harm designation" that required the Patriots to launch him as soon as wholesome, which the group did on October 31.

"He's a unique talent", Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Friday.

However, it looks like the Rams will have to deal with the wideout after all now that Gordon is heading to the Seattle Seahawks to provide Russell Wilson with another potential weapon to work with.

Gordon, 28, has battled alcohol and marijuana addiction that led to multiple failed drug tests, including as recently as last season, which led to multiple suspensions. Around that time the NFL suspended him indefinitely for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement under the league's substance-abuse policy.

"... He's a big-play guy and can stretch the field".

The Patriots have not offered a lot of information about Gordon's release only citing his health.

"The Patriots released Gordon off of injured reserve on Thursday, according to ESPN" s Adam Schefter. He led the National Football League in receiving yards that season.

Seattle's receiving corps already includes the likes of Tyler Lockett and rookie DK Matcalf.
