Facebook and Instagram are experiencing outages on Thanksgiving

Facebook, Instagram go down in Thanksgiving outage

Instagram and Facebook DOWN: Thousands of users unable to refresh their feeds or upload photos

A map on the site, which tracks reported outages, shows reports of problems on the east and west coasts, as well as the South and Texas. A spokesman for Facebook said, "We're aware that some people are now having trouble accessing Facebook's family of apps, including Instagram".

Twitter seemed to be functioning without glitches, allowing aggrieved users of Facebook and Instagram to share error messages and, sometimes, enjoy the silence. Rest of the profile page was inaccessible. Users are still reporting issues with the desktop site.

This is not the first time users have experienced disruptions of Facebook's services.

For nearly an hour, Facebook went blank and sent millions of users to other social media outlets to entertain themselves as the turkey was in the oven.

Reports are similar for Instagram.

A sudden influx of Down Detector user reports suggest that the outage started at roughly 6 am Pacific.

Many of those who were able to sign in could not access their News Feed and some subscribers said that they had a total "blackout".

Neither Facebook nor Instagram has said when the problems with both apps will be fixed. Some users on Twitter also posted about the app.
