Based on Tarantina's supervisor Laurie Smith, the actor had been "quite ill recently" and was recuperating at dwelling.

Tarantina was found in his NY apartment, police confirmed.

A spokesperson with the New York Police Department confirmed to Deadline that the officers received a call at about 12.40 am on Saturday morning about an unconscious person in a Manhattan apartment. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.

Last year, Tarantina portrayed The Gaslight emcee Jackie in the second season of Amazon Prime Video's hit show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Reported first by TMZ, the outlet declared that Tarantina had been discovered first by his niece who says he had a white powder along with him.

In the Instagram post above, Rachel Brosnahan stated she was sad to see that such a amusing, hilarious, talented, and kind person had died.

"For over twenty five years, Brian Tarantina has been in our lives", "Gilmore Girls" and "Maisel" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband, producer Dan Palladino, said in a statement. She added that their "family of weirds" wouldn't be the same without him. The series paid tribute to Tarantina with a tweet declaring "The Gaslight won't be the same without you". He took home a Screen Actors Guild Award with the rest of the cast earlier this year, in the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series category. He was known for playing tough-guy roles in films such as "Uncle Buck", "Jacob's Ladder", "The Jerky Boys", and "Donnie Brasco". "Sending love to his family and friends in this hard time", the post read.
