Trae Young Out Until At Least Monday With Ankle Sprain

The Hawks lost the game, but Young's status was the far more pressing concern.

Midway through the second quarter, Trae Young was helped off the floor to the locker room after he sprained his right ankle, missing the remainder of the game. The veteran star notched 21 points in his Miami debut and he has averaged 20 points or more in four consecutive seasons. Miami has seen the over go 6-1 in their last seven overall, 4-1 in their last five playing on one day of rest, 4-1 in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above.600 and 8-2 in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than.600.

Trae Young twisted his ankle in a nasty incident against the Heat. The Atlanta Hawks were led in points by power forward, John Collins who scored 30 points while going 10 of 17 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line. He will be re-evaluated at the beginning of next week to determine if he'll miss any additional games. ESPN reported that X-rays taken immediately after Young left the court were negative and that the team is optimistic the injury is not serious. Because the swelling went down, Young did not have to have an MRI on the ankle, which is another good sign that he will come back strong once he's fully recovered. He exhibited discomfort throughout the game but played through it. LeBron James had 23 points and eight assists for the Lakers. But on the first touch of his Heat career, Butler drove and scored on a layup.

Tyler Herro top scored for Miami with 29 points, as Jimmy Butler (21 points) provided solid back up. Jamal Murray and Gary Harris had 16 points each for the Nuggets, who lost the lead two minutes into the fourth quarter and never recovered.
