Taylor Swift has won artist of the year at the American Music Awards and surpassed Michael Jackson as the ceremony's most-honored performer. It was the singer-songwriter's night practically from start to finish as she performed a medley of her hits before accepting the artist of the decade award.
Defying expectations, Swift did not mention the feud during her Artist of the Decade acceptance speech, but she did give a special thank you to her current label. For her final song "Lover", ballerina Misty Copeland took the stage alongside Swift.
"I can not believe that it's Carole King who gave me this award", Swift gushed, adding that her parents would "listen to [her] records in high school" and then in their home when Swift was born. My parents are here tonight. And, you know, they would listen to Tapestry and all your records in high school, then they took them with them and packed them up to college with them'. And may it continue.
"This year has been a lot of good, a lot of really complicated, so behalf of my family and me, thank you so much for being there and caring". And to be honest with you, I really believed that fairy tale", Halsey (real name: "Ashley Frangipane) began. Thank you for everything. "I'm so lucky to get to do this".
As she ended the performance with Lover, Andrea was spotted bawling away and feeling proud, taking all Swifties out there on an emotional roller-coaster ride.
The singer, 25, won favorite pop/rock song for her hit single "Without Me".
Swift and music manager Scooter Braun have been in a dispute since he purchased Big Machine Label Group in June. In a press statement, Big Machine wrote that it and Dick Clark Show Productions "have come to terms on a licensing agreement" allowing Swift's performances "to stream post show and for re-broadcast on mutually approved platforms".
Billie Eilish poses in the press room with the award for new artist of the year and favorite alternative rock artist at the American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
The internet went insane by her style statement and memes started floating all around. "Record label approval is only needed for contracted artists' audio and visual recordings and in determining how those works are distributed". She played songs like "Shake It Off", "Love Story", "I Knew You Were Trouble", and more.
