Arch-rival Reliance Jio, too, said it will launch new unlimited plans from December 6, which will raise its voice and data tariff by up to 40 per cent. At a time when most telecom operators across the globe charge anywhere between $5 to $10 for a gigabyte of mobile data, telcos in India deliver that for just a few cents.

If you're on Jio, you can recharge for any plan including the yearly plan and it will carry over once your existing plan expires, regardless of the number of days remaining in your existing recharge. However, that didn't happen, and the companies are now in massive dues as Jio races close to 500 million subscriber base.

Here's how the new prepaid tariff plans of Airtel and Vodafone compare with each other. This plan remains unchanged and has been continued from the previous list of plans.

"These plans will provide up to 300 per cent more benefits to Jio customers, upholding the Jio promise of providing best-quality service at the lowest price globally", said the company in a statement. Airtel has an unbroken FUP limit on unlimited vocation from Airtel to alternative networks. there's a FUP limit of a thousand off-net minutes for all twenty-eight days unlimited plans, 3000 minutes for all eighty-four days unlimited plans and 1200 minutes for twelve months unlimited plans. The company is also offering Airtel Xstream Premium, Wynk Music Subscription, Hello Tunes access, and Anti-virus protection as a part of Airtel Thanks benefits. It affords customers unlimited calls, 2GB full records and 300 SMS for 28 days.

Rs. 699 plan with unlimited voice (FUP of 3,000 mins for off-net calls), 2GB/day of data and 100 SMS/day (84 days validity).

Vodafone Idea though has retained a Rs 379 plan which gives 6 GB data for 84 days.

The brokerage said Vodafone Idea would struggle to fund a heavy annual payment of 16,000 crore Rs, despite a 40 percent rise in tariffs by the 22nd year.

Last month Vodafone Idea and Airtel announced that they would increase prices after declaring second-quarter losses of $10bn (£7.7bn).

The users who avail the new plan will get unlimited Jio to Jio calls, 4,000 total minutes of Jio to non-Jio calls, and 100 SMS messages per day. As for Jio, the Rs 222 pay as you fling draw affords 2GB records per day, 1,000 off-obtain minutes, and 100 SMSes per day for 28 days. There will also be 250 minutes of voice calling every day, however, this is not available for Delhi and Mumbai.

Jio Rs 399 plan has 1.5GB daily data to offer.

In case users run out of data, Vodafone-Idea offers combo vouchers of Rs 49 and Rs 79 with a talk time of Rs 38 and Rs 64, respectively.

While telecom operators have been offering unlimited voice calling, both Vodafone and Bharti have made a decision to cap the outgoing calls outside their network from December 3. "Jio will continue to work with the government on the consultation process for revision of telecom tariffs and looks forward to participation from all other stakeholders", the company said in a statement.
