Although Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has embarked on a new journey as the leader of Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance, he still struggles to address his old-but now estranged-alliance partner BJP.
At his press conference earlier this week, former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had said that Shiv Sena compromised with its core ideology - Hindutva - by joining hands with Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
A few hours later, Devendra Fadnavis also resigned as Pawar's resignation, deprived his government of a majority. I have learnt a lot from you.
Patole said that the BJP is being accorded the status of opposition party in the assembly and Fadnavis would be the new leader of opposition. I am here with my luck and blessings of people.
Mumbai: The NCP is yet to decide who from the party will be the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, its state unit president Jayant Patil said on Saturday.
"I had come to meet the CM Uddhav Thackeray with two requests".
"Those who were in the Opposition for several years are now with me to form the government whereas friends (BJP) have gone away to sit on Opposition benches in this House", he said. Sena and BJP contested the October 21 polls together, but the saffron allies fell out bitterly over Sena's demand for splitting the post of chief minister for equal terms. "Had you listened to us, I would have been sitting at home watching today's developments on TV", Thackeray said.
"Fadnavis ji, we were friends once and shall always remain so".
"Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari once told me he would not do anything beyond the Constitution's framework". Pro tem speaker Dilip Walse Patil made the announcement after BJP candidate Kisan Kathore withdrew his nomination earlier in the day.
In response, Fadnavis accepted that he did say he would make a comeback "but forgot to give you the timetable for it".
During the floor test, a total of 169 MLAs voted in favour of the Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP alliance. "So, your appointment as Leader of the Opposition is quite apt".
