The World Health Organization (WHO) announced today that the disease caused by the new coronavirus will be referred to as COVID-19.
"It is very important to understand if it happened in the emergency ward or if it has happened when they were treating patients or somewhere else within the hospital facility so that we can also target implementation of corrective measures", she said. It did not say what nationality the person was or where they had been prior to arriving in Egypt. Henceforth, the Coronavirus disease will be referred to as COVID-19, as it was identified in Wuhan, China towards the end of past year. So far, more than 42 thousand people have been found infected.
The virus has killed more than 1,100 people and infected 44,600.
The new coronavirus has been referred to by a lot of names: Wuhan coronavirus, Wuhan flu, Chinese coronavirus and the like.
"Just over 400 cases have been reported in 24 other countries, and this is remarkably small compared to the numbers in China", he said.
Japan has been one of the most-affected countries outside China.
To date there have been 15 confirmed cases in the United States, and no confirmed cases in OH.
It was explained that discovering the case comes amid the ministry's precaution plan to follow-up with the travelers coming from the countries which recorded Infections with coronavirus. Testing will begin in five states before expanding.
Ryan added that it was still too early "to predict the beginning, the middle or end of the epidemic".
To distinguish it from other coronaviruses, it needed its own name.
So technically, to say somebody has a coronavirus could mean anything from them suffering with the common cold to the new deadly strain of the disease.
Several countries have banned arrivals from China, while major airlines have halted flights to and from the country. The passengers have taken to Israeli media in recent days to plead with the government to secure their release from the liner.
