They instructed everyone to shelter-in-place initially, but the university has since lifted the order.

Two people died and one was taken to the hospital following a shooting on the Texas A&M-Commerce campus Monday, according to university officials. "UPD has stationed officers throughout the campus, including all key gathering points, for the safety of the campus community", Texas A&M said. The university said the student center would be available for displaced students and that counselors were available there.

The university has has not said if a suspect is being sought.

A&M Commerce says due to the ongoing investigation, Pride Rock and surrounding areas are still blocked off.

There is no word yet on the condition of the person injured or the identity of victims.

The incident occurred in the school's Pride Rock residence hall, according to the college's tweets. All classes were canceled for the rest of the day.

TAMUC has over 100 graduate and undergraduate degrees and had just over 12,000 students enrolled in the Fall 2018 semester.
