A man has died after a logging incident on West Thurlow Island east of Campbell River on April 8.
“This was an unfortunate gentleman who was working on a dry land timber sorting operation and it was out at Knox Bay on West Thurlow Island," said Coroner Barb McLintock. "On Monday right around the end of the day, just before they were about to close up shop for the day, at 5 o clock there was an unfortunate incident and this gentleman got struck by a log and he was deceased at the scene.”
The man's name is Mark Allen Eric Dube, aged 59. He had most recently been living in Campbell River and working at Knox Bay.
The B.C. Coroners Service and WorkSafe BC are continuing to investigate this death. Mclintock said that the investigation is still in very preliminary stages because of the remote location.
