Students and staff at George Vanier High School in Courtenay are set to face off against the Comox Valley RCMP.

On Tuesday, Dec. 13, the two sides will engage in an epic battle for hockey supremacy.

Cst. Nicole Hall from the Comox Valley RCMP detachment explained why this challenge was thrown down.

"It's all about having fun and raising some money for the local women's shelter."

Lilly House will be the eventual winner, with all proceeds of the game going to supporting the shelter. However, the RCMP have no intention of losing to Vanier.

"There will definitely be some talented, young players on the ice from the high school. We will put up a good fight and try to come out on top, but we'll see what we are faced with when we show up on Tuesday," said Cst. Hall.

The game takes place at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Comox Valley Sports Centre, on Vanier Drive in Courtenay.

Admission is by cash donation or by bringing along a non-perishable food item for Lilly House.

Cst. Hall threw down one more challenge. "I'd like to challenge the community to come out and show their support by cheering on their favourite team to help a great place that supports women in need who live here in the Comox Valley - Lilly House."
