Rebates for water-efficient toilets are now being canned right around the Comox Valley Regional District.
It was earlier announced the program would end for the Black Creek - Oyster Bay (BCOB) area, but the rebate is also being discontinued in the Comox Valley.
"This is just reevaluating the priorities of the water efficiency plan and determining how successful the plan has been over the past couple of years, then making recommendations about how to improve things in the future," explained Marc Rutten, the CVRD's senior manager of engineering services.
In the BCOB area, the money saved from ending the rebate program will help pay for a long list of capital upgrades.
In the Comox Valley, the funds will be saved in an account for future water efficiency measures.
The CVRD will process toilet rebate applications with receipts date stamped up to and including March 23, 2012 on a first-come-first-serve basis. All applications with receipts must be submitted by May 31, 2012 to be eligible for the rebate.
Those in the BCOB area have until March 30, 2012 to purchase a more water-efficient toilet and qualify for the $75 rebate.
