News19 Wing Comox responds to helicopter crash
CFB Comox crews responded to a deadly helicopter crash near Terrace in Northwestern BC on Friday morning, June 1, 2012. "A Buffalo aircraft and Cormorant search and rescue helicopter were dispatched to an area approximately 13 miles west of Terrace on reports of a helicopter crash near Sleeping Beauty Mountain," recounted 19 Wing Comox spokesperson Lieutenant Trevor Reid. "The Buffalo was able to land at Terrace Airport first, Sar-Techs were disembarked where they boarded a civilian helicopter. They were taken to the crash scene but unfortunately they were not able to find any survivors of the crash." Lieutenant Reid sent out a message to the families of those who lost their lives in the crash. "Our thoughts go out to the families of the victims involved and obviously it is tough for our search and rescue personnel as well." The Transportation Safety Board says the helicopter belonged to Bailey Helicopters based in Fort Saint John. Two pilots and an engineer were on a training mission at the time. Weather conditions were reported to be severe at the time of Friday's crash. Similar StoriesMost Viewed Stories
