Substantial residential and commercial growth in recent years has boosted the Village of Cumberland's coffers, injecting some much needed revenues for their municipal tax base this year.

"We have been very fortunate this year, for many years we have had to hold the line so it is nothing new to us to hold the line," explained Cumberland Mayor Leslie Baird.

"We have actually gone out and done a number of things that we were fortunate to do and it has everything to do with having an increased tax base. We have had some developments in town that have definitely given us a few more dollars to spend."

Baird says the community is being transformed with a huge influx of newcomers.

"We are getting people from all over the place coming here and moving in. It has changed the community a great deal too because we are attracting a lot of young families who enjoy the many outdoor activities in the community such as biking, which makes it a great place to raise children."
